Mekajinn...

Was born in Hereford, England, back in the days of chocolate brown flared corduroys, lurid orange brynylon shirts, and hair that could have been made out of Lego. Back then the idea of computer being used as a tool for making music was openly ridiculed by powerful men in spacious offices as they smoked large cigars and quaffed even lager G&Ts. Little did they realise that these halcyon days were of a finite number.

In the 1980s the Atari Corporation released the ST. Mekajinn ignored this event completely. Mekajinn was concerned with making very loud noises with an electic guitar, and was far too busy being handsome, talented and 'in a band' to use a computer for anything more than zapping those invading hoards of meddlesome aliens. However, by 1996 the world had changed, and Mekajinn had started to venture into the world of MIDI, having several guest appearances on the projects of his one-time mentor StaggBag. The following year he took some time out from being a rock deity to travel the UK working on tour with some band or other, and earned enough to purchase his very first music computer...The Atari STe, with a 4 Megabyte upgrade running Cubase off a 3.5 inch floppy disk.

It was about this time that Mekajinn disovered the awsome power of Atomic Jam and Megadog, witnessing the dark magic of the likes of CJ Bolland and Jeff Mills. This inspired Mekajinn to play his first gig, in April 1999, at Scholars in Coventry. He has since gone on to perform sets of assorted styles to audiences throughout the UK. He states that although he enjoys the charged atmosphere of live work, he feels more at home in the creative environment of the studio. After several years hard study, 2008 sees the release of three new CD singles by Mekajinn.

The first of these singles features he up-tempo breakbeat/pop blend of Bohemian Girl, a story of mechanical love in th new millenium. The second single reveals the hard drum and bass that is Jugganaut, a searing scorcher of a tune, it is as 'in yer face' as an alien hatchling. Finally, the third CD is highlighted by Panza, a dark journey into the realms of hard techno driven by a monstrous bassline complete with elements of psychadelia.
